Sustainable communities are not the result of a one-size-fits-all plan imposed from outside, they grow from within. Sus it Out Plus™ enables community and voluntary organisations to work out how they already contribute to sustainable development and to decide how they can build on this for the future.
Sus it Out Plus™ is managed and delivered by Forward Scotland o with funding from the Big Lottery Fund.
Groups can take part in Sus it Out Plus™ by:
- Using the Sus it Out™ Toolkit with a trained Facilitator
- Pledging to develop in a more sustainable way
- Developing an organisational training and development plan
- Building real and online links with other groups who are trying to Sus it Out™
Running a community group and delivering services in your local community can be demanding and is certainly time consuming. You might feel that there are better ways of doing things, but you don't have the time within the group to step back and take a more strategic view of what you're doing - usually you just have to get on with what you're doing to get it done. Certainly that is what other groups we've worked with have told us.
Sus it Out Plus™ can help. It can't magic time for you, but it can allow you some space to think about what you do as an organisation. Led by an experienced facilitator it doesn't take too much time out of your schedules - the main session takes around 2 hours to complete, and in itself has helped many groups to focus on what they really need to deliver for their communities, and how best to go about that.
